Pedaling for a Cause: Shem Bitterman and the WGA ‘Bike The Strike’ Initiative
Ever since his LA arrival in 1987, Shem Bitterman has carved a notable film career, boasting titles like “Halloween 5,” “Betty and Coretta,” and “Whitney.” His Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) journey commenced in 1997, escalating to a Strike Captain role a decade later. Amid the recent WGA strike, Shem, alongside Taylor Nichols and Steve Kriozere, birthed the “Bike The Strike” rides, a novel initiative ferrying riders to studio picket lines, transforming the conventional picketing narrative.
While the strike curtains have drawn, the biking spirit pervades among over 100 enthusiasts in the Bike The Strike cadre, promising more pedal-powered camaraderie and advocacy in the sprawling city of angels.
